Highly anticipated compilation “The Resurrection Of A King” arrives Mar. 27, 2026. The Easter-focused project is helmed by award-winning composer, producer and songwriter Tommee Profitt, who reimagined 19 enduring hymns for the collection and assembled a who’s who list of featured artists to steward a carefully selected batch of songs. Phil Wickham, Jenn Johnson, Jon Reddick and CeCe Winans are among the respected names found across the cinematic full-length recording that breathes new life into familiar standards such as “Jesus Paid It All,” “Blessed Assurance” and “Nothing But The Blood.”
“The Resurrection Of A King” serves as the sequel to Profitt’s “The Birth Of A King,” a 17-track musical odyssey released in 2020 that also showcases a host of innovative, theatrical collaborations with artists like Kari Jobe, Tauren Wells and We The Kingdom. Profitt has transformed the former album into an annual concert that unites both emerging voices and some of the biggest names in Christian music, all backed by a 50-piece orchestra, 100-person choir and a full band. Following a sold-out, one-of-a-kind performance at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena in 2025, Profitt and his talented roster of friends are slated for two consecutive nights at the same venue in December 2026.
“The essence of the Christmas album was taking something old and making it feel new and fresh and cinematic. And in order for ‘The Resurrection Of A King’ to feel like a true sequel (which it does!), it needed to be the same — songs with old heritage (about the cross and the blood) made to feel new and fresh. And of course cinematic. So that’s what this album is…a new soundtrack to the Easter story,” Profitt explains. “Our hope is that this project will breathe new life into these timeless classics. Each song feels like a cover and an original all at the same time. I’ve personally never been more inspired making music in my entire life than when working on this project. The process was so powerful and emotional; I couldn’t explain it if I tried.”
Profitt — who has garnered more than 300 sync placements across television, film and video games and has co-written and produced songs for major names like Avril Lavigne and NF — goes on to say that this particular experiment began with a vision to create a follow-up to his critically acclaimed holiday endeavor. Next came the tedious task of song selection. Then, Profitt specifically chose a voice that would match the passion, emotion and range of each cut.
The first advance track, “He Arose,” which modernizes the bygone spiritual, “Up From The Grave He Arose,” and features Phil Wickham, is available now.
