Convoy Of Hope Continues Relief, Encouragement To Venezuela Quake Survivors

Ethan Forhetz, Convoy of Hope’s Vice President, has just returned from Venezuela with powerful first hand stories of hope, compassion, and God's love in the aftermath of the recent earthquakes. After spending time in the devastated city of La Guaira, Ethan witnessed rescue teams working tirelessly to search for survivors while Convoy of Hope served families whose lives have been turned upside down.

One moment continues to stay with him:

"Every five to 10 minutes, rescue teams would suddenly raise their hands and call for complete silence because they had heard a possible sign of life. Traffic stopped. Engines were shut off. Every conversation ceased. The entire area became completely still as everyone listened for even the faintest sound coming from beneath the rubble. It was a deeply sobering experience knowing people were still trapped there."

Ethan also described La Guaira as looking "like a warzone," with apartment buildings ripped open, exposing the bedrooms and kitchens where families once lived. Yet even a week after the earthquakes, he witnessed something remarkable—hope had not disappeared. Rescue workers continued searching with determination, believing they could still find survivors, while churches, volunteers, and humanitarian organizations came together to care for those in need.

Convoy of Hope continues to serve families across Venezuela by providing emergency relief, meals, clean water, and essential supplies. More importantly, our teams are reminding people they are not forgotten. In the middle of unimaginable loss, they are being the hands and feet of Jesus by offering both practical help and the hope found in Christ.
