We have a powerful and encouraging Verse of the Day today. Let's break this apart piece by piece. First — the Lord your God is living among you. How crazy powerful is that alone? That Jesus Himself was willing to come to this earth. Every other religion believes that we have to work hard and do a lot of things to earn the favor of God, to be able to come to Him. The amazing thing about our God is that He was willing to come to us. What in the world — isn't that powerful? We have a God who is willing to come to us, to live with us. That's why we hold on to the verse that says He will never leave you or forsake you. He is living among us. That's why I love the verse where Jesus says, "Where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in the midst of you." He's living amongst us, with us, so that we can see His presence on the faces and in the eyes of those who know Him as well.
Think about it this way — imagine there's a celebrity you would absolutely love to meet. I'm sure you already have their name and face in mind. Now imagine it's not just that you get a message from them, or a letter in the mail, or a text or a phone call. Imagine if they actually chose to live with you. We have the privilege of having the God of the universe — our Savior, our Lord — saying He is willing to live among us. If we really believed that today, how it would change the way we live, the way we breathe, the way we think, the way we act, our priorities — as we live in the reality of Him actually living among us.
Mighty Savior, Body, Soul, and Spirit
Then we have mighty Savior — one who delights in and rejoices over you and calms our fears with His love. What I love about when He is in our presence is that He cares about body, soul, and spirit — every single component of who we are. As a mighty Savior, He delights in and rejoices over you — that's our soul, who we are. Then He calms your fears with His love — that's our spirit. The reason it touches our spirit is because Romans chapter 5 and verse 5 says He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love. The Word of God also says He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of self-control. Calming our fears with His love, being overwhelmed by His love through the power of His Holy Spirit within us — God's presence gives us a unique opportunity to be whole and at peace with Him, body, soul, and spirit, because He is a mighty Savior. He delights in you and rejoices over you, and He is willing to calm your fears because of His presence in your life. I would just ask you to take some time today — allow Him and His presence to give you the opportunity to experience feeling whole, as He cares about all of you: body, soul, and spirit. Allow Him to give you peace in His presence today.
