Though his family moved nearly every two years, having lived in Sydney, New York City, and Florida for a time, Davenport considers Memphis to be where he truly grew up. From his earliest memories, he and his father would listen to music from some of the world’s greatest songwriters, including Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, and Tom Petty. During his time moving to different places every so often, he came into contact with major worship collectives like UNITED, who would put his songwriting talent to work.
Up until recently, Chris did most of his work off the stage. In Australia, he would collaboratively create songs such as “Seasons” and “Another In The Fire”. Davenport has also collaborated with artists such as Phil Wickham, Brandon Lake, and Cody Carnes on songs like “Hymn of Heaven,” “Too Good To Not Believe,” and more. With so many powerful and incredibly moving songs under his belt, Davenport’s voice would present some of his songs in live shows every now and then, while other voices would sing them on major recordings and tours. Before long, it would be time for this songwriter to step into the limelight.

After so many years working as a songwriter, Chris decided to kick off his own solo career in 2023 with his debut album, “TIME”. This album features songs like “Plead The Blood,” “Thunder In The Desert,” and “God What Do You Want”. As he begins this bold new journey, Davenport is supported by his wife, two sons, and their labradoodle, Teddy. Davenport shares his philosophy for the deeply personal lyrics featured in his songwriting:
“I do my best to let my real life inform my writing as best I can because I want the songs that I write to reach people in their real lives as best I can. All we are able to do is serve God with what we have… He’s a good enough God that He can use anything, and He’s a good enough God that He can use anyone.”
