God promises us that He will give us a life better than anything we could come up with if we simply follow Him. For Tasha Layton, faithfully following God has resulted in the journey of a lifetime unlike any she could have pictured. Though this artist may have only recently begun to grace our ears on the radio, her story is one that clearly displays the unique twists and exciting turns that God’s plan for our lives can take if we follow His path. So who is Tasha Layton and where did she come from? Tasha Layton found a passion for worship music from an early age, and would frequently lead worship for her local youth group. After wounding division in her church caused Layton to seek out deeper truth about herself and her place in the world, she investigated many religions to see if they had any substance. Ultimately, she would find the answers she needed right back in the arms of Jesus. Before long, Layton would audition and perform on season 9 of “American Idol,” catching the attention of judge Katy Perry, who she would begin touring with. Layton’s life had turned from sorrow to success, and God was just getting started.
After touring with Perry for some time, Layton would move to Nashville, co-writing with many talented creators. It was here that Layton would meet the love of her life, Keith Everette Smith. The two would soon marry, and are currently raising their son. The couple would also quickly begin work on Layton’s debut EP, “Love Running Wild,” featuring songs such as “Safe Here” and “Sound of Heaven,” which featured the vocal talents of Chris McClarney. This EP would be released in 2019, marking the beginning of Layton’s solo career.

Over the next two years, Layton would release two more EP’s, “Into The Sea” and holiday special, “This is Christmas,” as well as popular singles such as “Look What You’ve Done”. In 2022, Layton would release two full length albums, “How Far” and a full length edition of “This Is Christmas” in May and November respectively. Layton has touched many hearts with her moving testimony and her ballads of lasting faith, and we believe we will continue to hear great things from Layton in the near future.
Layton sees this stage in her career as the most meaningful yet. Layton shares her appreciation for the journey that God took her on to reach this place.
“I am so grateful for my life and this ministry God has entrusted to me and my husband. I feel especially thankful when I think of how I prayed to be able to minister to people when I was younger, how I wrestled with my faith, and now, how I get to live out my calling.”
