Elevation Rhythm bids farewell to old ways on “Goodbye Yesterday,” the group’s latest original offering. Featuring emerging worship artist Gracie Binion, the vibrant track boasts a cheerful, bouncy chorus as the collective leaves the past behind to embrace new life in Christ singing, “I’m dancing on the grave that I once lived in.”
“Goodbye Yesterday” brings to mind 2 Corinthians 5:17: “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” Meanwhile, well-known hymn “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus” is interpolated into the bridge, helping to illustrate the transformation that takes place when we begin a personal relationship with Jesus. The nostalgic nod to the beloved standard makes “Goodbye Yesterday” immediately feel familiar.
“‘Goodbye Yesterday’ is our salvation anthem, full of hope and expectation for living in the light of a new day,” shares ELEVATION RHYTHM member Joshua Holiday of the single he produced and penned alongside Binion, Steven Furtick and Mitch Wong. “The song serves as a declaration to follow Jesus. I hope you love it.”
The daughter of respected songwriters and worship leaders David and Nicole Binion, Gracie — who formerly recorded under the moniker MDSN — is a burgeoning talent in her own right, having released the first of three installments of new music leading to a full-length project later this year.
ELEVATION RHYTHM is the next-gen expression of Charlotte’s Elevation Church, led by Furtick. The youth-focused group has been opening the record-breaking “Elevation Nights” tour in cities across the country. Headlined by their big sister collective, Elevation Worship, and featuring a special message from Furtick at every stop, the outing became one of the biggest Christian tours in history when it sold out its run of arena shows earlier this year.
The historic “Elevation Nights” tour rolls to the West Coast this fall, with ELEVATION RHYTHM once again providing direct support.
