Pat Barrett gifts the Church another timeless anthem with “Praise The Lord Forever.” The passionate declaration of praise interpolates Psalm 103:1, which says, “Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.”

“I wanted a song that feels like Sunday morning — and this one means so much to me,” Barrett says of the original he penned with Ben Smith, Benjamin William Hastings, Jonathan Smith and Phil Wickham. “It’s been filling my heart with worship in the most simple and beautiful way.”

The congregational-friendly offering doesn’t just revere the Lord; it also holds space for the hurting heart, identifying with those who might find the words of this song difficult to sing. Yet, Barrett encourages the brokenhearted, singing the bridge like a blessing over the wounded and reminding them that when they’re too weak to muster any faith, those around them will lift them up and believe on their behalf.

The community-centric “Praise The Lord Forever” introduced Barrett’s fourth full-length project, “I’ve Got A Fire,” which dropped in October. While the worship-focused selection taps into the Atlanta-based songwriter’s signature sound, upon release, the title cut delivered more of a surprise with a dance-worthy bop and accompanying viral video that stars Barrett’s endearing 74-year-old father.

In addition to his own 11-track album, the “Build My Life” singer joined Christian music supergroup Sons of Sunday for a self-titled endeavor earlier this year.

Alongside favorites like “Good Good Father” and “The Way (New Horizon),” Barrett took his new music to arenas this fall, supporting Brandon Lake on tour. The in-demand lyricist will reprise his role on Lake’s “King Of Hearts Tour” in 2026, sharing songs he’s recorded, as well as a number of hits he’s written for other artists.
